Wish-Bone Review and Giveaway
This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Wish-Bone
“Delicious as a dressing, Remarkable as a Marinade” - Get More out of your Dressing.
I've been making a concerted effort to get dinner on the table and eat as a family lately, but this time of year is hard since we're gone a lot with sports practices and end of the school year activities. I need something I can fix without a lot of preparation time, but that isn't the same old thing each day.
Additionally, with the weather getting warmer (at least some days, anyway) it's time for some lighter fare and I learned about some great salad ideas from Wish-Bone.
When I was growing up, we had a salad at just about every dinner, and it was always in those wooden salad bowls. Wish-Bone was the only salad dressing I knew of, and as far as I knew there was Italian and French and we had it on lettuce, carrots and radishes when they were in season. I wasn't until later I found out about "exotic" flavors such as Thousand Island and Russian, but those went on lettuce, too.
Now, there's so many great Wish-Bone Dressing products and so much more you can create and use it for such as marinades, sandwiches and lots of different salads beyond just lettuce. As a matter of fact, each Wish-Bone Salad Dressing bottle comes with a recipe right on it.
I received a variety of Wish-Bone products and we (OK, OK, Busy Girl did it)
made (there's a reason I'm not a food stylist) Mandarin Chicken Salad:
Creamy Red Potato Salad:
Easy Mediterranean Pasta Salad:
They all turned out great!
The Mandarin Chicken Salad has an unexpected combination of ranch dressing and orange marmalade, and it really works for the salad. It wasn't as big of a kid favorite as the other two recipes, but the adults loved it.
Potato Salad is it's own food group here in the South, and the Creamy Red Potato Salad did not disappoint, the whole family gave it a thumb's up. It has simple ingredients and didn't take long to prepare. I will probably add a little more mustard to it next time, but it won't be in the fridge for long!
The Easy Mediterranean Pasta Salad is Busy Girl's personal favorite and the rest of us aren't allowed in it. However, I did sneak some, it's great and hearty enough for a meal. There's not a carbohydrate that is safe from my 12 year old son, so I venture a guess that it won't be around long, either.

I like to use the ranch dressing instead of mayo on my sandwiches! Also, the italian is great to mix with pasta!
By Jennifer, At 5:28 PM, June 18, 2009
Take a large flour tortilla and heat it up, then place a row of filling across it. This can be any left-over meat, then chopped raw or cooked veggies of your choosing. Then dress it with whichever Wishbone dressing you think will go best and roll it up. Good for lunch, or with accompaniments for dinner!
By DickJ, At 10:19 PM, June 20, 2009
I love to cut fresh vegetables such a carrots, celery etc, into small sticks. It makes for a great snack and a secretly healthy finger food for my toddler!
By Kristy Blanco, At 3:56 PM, June 21, 2009
I love to mix prepared Wishbone Italian dressing into cold spaghetti then add fresh tomatoes, green peppers and onions, all chopped to approximately the same size. Toss it all together and chill and you've got a great summer side salad.

Anything a "normal" person would use ketchup on, my kids substitute ranch dressing. Burgers, fries, chicken, you name in. My son said the only thing he's found that it's not great on would be cinnamon rolls!! Go figure!
By mickeyfan, At 12:02 PM, June 24, 2009
I like the idea of marinating chicken in Wishbone dressing and then throwing it on the grill. It sounds very healthy and low in fat...and tasty enough to not need any fattening dipping sauces. thanks for the giveaway.

My favorite quick recipe with WishBone dressing:
About 1/2 cup of your favorite WishBone vinaigrette-style dressing
1 can corn, drained
1 can white beans, drained
1 pint grape tomatoes
1 cucumber, peeled and diced
1 can small black pitted olives, drained
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
Toss it all together and let it sit for an hour or two. This is always a hit at potlucks!

I love using dressings for marinades! Wishbone Light Italian, Light Balsamic & Basil Vinaigrette and Light Honey Dijon are my favorites for meats, seafood and veggie marinades. It's great because you can do the marinating the day before, than just put it on the grill or a grilling pan and voila! Healthy, tasty meal ready in minutes :)

Its great on fresh veggies too.

It's great for Mari aging chicken and putting over baked chicken and potatoes before going onto the oven. My son says it's "the best chicken in the world"! And my kids favorite snack is tomatos sliced and dipped in ranch. They have been eating that since toddlerhood!

wishbone dressings are awesome for pasta salads. you don't even need a recipe, really. got pasta? got random veggies? throw them in a bowl with either the italian, the ranch, or one of the raspberry flavors and you're good to go.
excellent for pot luck in a pinch.
one of my favorite summer meals is to marinate an english cut roast, some mushrooms, peppers and onions in the italian dressing, and then grill them up. i slice the roast into thin strips and serve it all with a loaf of crusty bread.
great outdoor meal. not too heavy, but super delicious.

I like to use the different Italian dressings on vegetables. I let them marinate and then grill. It's a little different, and one of my tricks to get people to eat more vegies.

I've frequently used Wishbone for marinating, or for making pasta salad...my teenage son's favorite item! We just toss together the Wishbone Italian with some pasta, pepperoni, grape tomatoes and what ever veggies we have left.
But I've never really used it in sauces and would like to get adventurous that way. It was interesting to see they use the ITALIAN drsg in the Chicken satay recipe. I would have assumed it was the asian drsg. Can't wait to try some of these! Thanks.
Thanks!

We use Wish Bone as dressings, marinades for meats and veggies for grilling and baking (especially Italian). I also mix a dab of creamy dressing with a dab of mayo for a zesty sandwhich condiment.

My favorite is Spaghetti salad. Cooked spaghetti with tomatoes, ripe olives, celery, etc. Add leftover chicken (or other meat of choice). Sprinkle with Schilling Salad Supreme - I usually end up using a whole bottle. And finish off with Wishbone Italian Dressing to coat.
So good.
